French easy intermediate fiction recommendation (have read Le petit nicolas level books)?

So I've read Le Petit Prince and all the le petit nicolas series. I was wondering what next I should be reading in french. I don't want to exactly jump right to Madame Bovary or Les Miserables or something. Any recommendations would be useful.
