I think he is overreacting. If he was a true friend he would let you explain what happened and actually listen. You don't really need to explain yourself to the people he hangs around with. All they heard was his side of the story and people shouldn't just take a side when they don't know both sides of the story. If he still isn't talking to you after 2 months then I don't think you should care about it anymore, especially if he says he still hates you, or won't talk to you. Don't think about what you should have done because it's already over with, you didn't know how serious his injuries were. You should try to explain yourself ONE more time and tell him to listen, if he chooses not to and walks away then he is walking away from your friendship, if he listens and still thinks your lying then there's not much you can do, and finally if he listens and forgives you then you will have a good friendship. Also, don't beg or think you have to constantly explain yourself because if he doesn't want to be your friend after that then who cares, you tried.
